How to Properly Clean a Sofa with a Steam Cleaner?

A steam cleaner is a convenient and effective assistant when cleaning upholstered furniture when household chemicals cannot be used. With the help of a steam cleaner, you can get rid of simple and complex stains, and at the same time neutralize the surface of objects from germs and allergens. Exposure to steam does not damage the treated surfaces, does not destroy their structure, and acts delicately and at the same time effectively.

Benefits of Steam Cleaning Your Sofa

Sofas can be stained from drinks and greasy food, paints, dirty pet paws, etc. Such contaminants are difficult to clean with a damp cloth or a conventional vacuum cleaner. Also, there are dust mites, which are not visible to the naked eye and harm the health of all the inhabitants of the house. The couch steam cleaner will easily cope with all problems – both dirt and harmful microorganisms. Cleaning sofas and armchairs with a steam cleaner will return the furniture to its original appearance.

How to Proceed in Stages?

Follow this sequence of actions:

  1. Pre-clean the furniture from large debris: pieces of paper, candy wrappers, shells, and so on. This can be done with a brush or a regular vacuum cleaner.
  2. Pour clean water into the steam cleaner container. For steam generators, filtered water (without impurities) is recommended.
  3. In case of heavy contamination, if such a possibility is indicated in the instructions for the device, use a detergent. Add it to the tank, directly into the water.
  4. Put the steam generator into operation and gently move the nozzle over the furniture.
  5. After treating the fragment, immediately blot the area with a clean microfiber cloth – several times. If the stain does not come out right away, or if a dirty streak remains, repeat the steaming and rag drying procedure several times.
  6. The main thing is to make sure that the upholstery does not become very wet, for this, control the steam supply pressure in the device.
  7. After you have cleaned the main surface of the sofa or other furniture, treat hard-to-reach places. Use a narrow long or cone-shaped nozzle. Drive-in narrow or difficult places by changing the angle of the nozzle for the best effect.

Regular steam cleaning will extend the life of your sofa. It will protect against the reproduction of harmful allergens, and microscopic dust mites that are not visible to the human eye. Steam cleaning returns upholstered furniture freshness and novelty and eliminates grease and scuffs from textiles and leather.
